A York man was assaulted and robbed at gunpoint by an unknown man while sitting on a bench near U.S. 321, according to the York Police Department.
The incident happened last week near the York Townhouses on Railroad Avenue, according to a police report. The 26-year-old victim said he was sitting on a wooden bench near the townhouses when a silver Chevrolet Tahoe or Suburban pulled up. The suspect got out of the SUV and hit the victim in the face with a fist.
The suspect pulled out a pistol and pointed it at the victim, then took the victim’s jewelry and cellphone, police said. He chased the victim into a wooded area between the York Townhouses and Settlemyre Place.
When asked if he could identify the suspect, the victim said he was “not a snitch,” the report states.

A woman who lives in the same apartment as the victim told police the victim ran out the door and into the woods when officers arrived because he thought he would be arrested. While officers spoke with her, the victim began having an epileptic seizure and was transported to Piedmont Medical Center.
