A Rock Hill man was charged with the armed robbery of a man who planned to buy marijuana from him earlier this month near the Winthrop University campus, according to Rock Hill Police.
Leroy Montez Shepherd III, 20, of Turnstone Court, was arrested Wednesday and charged with armed robbery. He is accused in the early-morning robbery of two men on June 7.
The two victims told officers they went to an address on Rose Street about 3:30 a.m. that day to purchase marijuana, according to a police report. One victim said two men came to the parking lot to sell them the drugs, and one of the suspects pulled out a black revolver and pointed it at. The suspects reportedly fled after the victim gave them $22.
The second victim said he was sitting in the vehicle when the robbery happened, police said. He told police he recorded the incident on his vehicle’s dash camera and provided a copy to officers.

The phone number of the person the victims planned to buy the drugs from was registered to Shepherd, police said. The victims said they didn’t want to report the incident right away because of the reason they were at the home, but decided to report it because a gun was involved.
