Man tells York police he was beaten, robbed by group

A young man told York police he was approached by a group of men on the street who struck him in the head and robbed him of $20.

The incident occurred while the man was walking on the 200 block of Valley Road around 5:30 p.m. June 14, according to a York police report.

A 26-year-old man told police he was approached by several men who began “beating him in the head” and stole his money. The group also reportedly took his cellphone and threw it into a wooded area, but the man was able to recover it.

He called police, then got a ride from a cousin at a gas station on South Congress Street, but the group followed him and tried to pull him out of the car before they drove off.

The victim did not have any visible injuries from the attack, the report notes. He told police he couldn’t name any of the individuals who attacked him but said he would recognize them.
