Body discovered in creek during search for NC man reported missing after wreck
A body was found Friday afternoon during a search for a 51-year-old man who was reported missing more than a week earlier near Morganton, officials said.
Shortly after 4 p.m. Friday, search crews composed of various state and local law enforcement agencies discovered the body in a creek near U.S. 70 and East Burke Boulevard in Icard, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release Saturday. The body is believed to be Koa Hang, officials said.
Hang was last seen on Oct. 27 walking away from the scene of a car crash around 9 p.m. at the intersection of Icard School Road and Icard Rhodhiss Road, which is less than a mile away from the creek where the body was found, according to the release.
The Burke County Medical Examiner’s Office is working on identifying the body, the release said.
