Police: Rock Hill road rage suspect pointed gun at driver
A Rock Hill man allegedly pointed a gun at another driver after striking the victim’s vehicle and driving aggressively on Heckle Boulevard, according to Rock Hill Police.
David Yarborough, 65, of Herndon Farm Road, was charged with pointing and presenting a firearm. He was placed in the Rock Hill city jail, where he was awaiting a bond hearing Friday morning.
The victim told police a white pickup struck his vehicle’s rear door and fender on Heckle Boulevard about 6 p.m. Thursday when the pickup’s driver, Yarborough, went straight through an intersection in the left turn lane. Yarborough reportedly began driving erratically and tried to pass while the vehicles traveled south on Heckle Boulevard.
The victim would not let Yarborough pass, police said. Yarborough allegedly pulled a black handgun and began waving at the victim. The victim said Yarborough followed him until police got behind them.
Yarborough told officers the victim was striking his vehicle and pursuing him, so he removed his gun from the holster but didn’t point it at the victim, the report states. Police said the damage on both vehicles was consistent with a single collision rather than repeated strikes.
Officers found a .380-caliber pistol on the floorboard of Yarborough’s vehicle. York County Animal Control took custody of his dog.
