A York mother was charged with child neglect after leaving her 3-year-old daughter home alone so that her boyfriend could fight someone, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.

An anonymous person reported about 2 a.m. Thursday that a 3-year-old child was alone at a home on Russell Road, according to a sheriff’s report. The child’s mother, 25-year-old Brittany Mueller, reportedly left the home with her boyfriend so that her he could fight someone on Lincoln Road.

Deputies found Mueller, who said her child was either with her mother or a neighbor, the report states. Mueller was intoxicated, and was “not sure where her child was sleeping.”

The toddler was not with Mueller’s mother, deputies said. Mueller gave them a key to enter her home, where they found the girl sleeping alone.

Mueller’s sister took custody of the child, and the Department of Social Services was notified of the situation.

She remained in the York County Detention Center Friday afternoon on a $10,262 bond.
