Deputies: York Co. man injured with baseball bat during fight
York County authorities arrested a Gastonia man this week after he allegedly assaulted a local man with a baseball bat during a front yard brawl.
Sheriff’s Office records state that the 23-year-old man from Gastonia was angry and drunk when he started a fight with a York man at his home. The man swung the bat and hit the victim in his ribs, according to a York County Sheriff’s Office report.
Deputies didn’t specify what the men may have been arguing about.
Witnesses said the suspect showed up at the home with several other people in his car and used the bat to damage an SUV in the driveway after hitting one man in his ribs. Deputies say the vehicle’s windshield and grille were damaged and the man suffered minor injuries.
The sheriff’s office charged the man with second-degree assault and battery and malicious damage to property.
