Woman believes man stole from unlocked York apartment

A woman told York police she believes her missing money was taken by a mysterious man with an afro seen outside her unlocked apartment.

The woman told police she withdrew $500 in cash from the bank to pay her bills, and put it in her purse. At 11 p.m. on June 5, she left her apartment on California Street to visit a neighbor without locking her door, and returned about 20 minutes later. When she later checked her wallet, she noticed the money was gone.

After searching the apartment for the money for three weeks, she reported the missing money to police. She said the night she left the house, she noticed a young man with an afro standing about 20 yards outside her front door. She told police she had never seen the man before or since, and believes he may have taken the money while she was away from her unlocked apartment.
