Police called when 2 Rock Hill pastors argue at Bible study

Police were called to a Bible study Tuesday night after two pastors got into a heated argument and one woman reportedly pulled out a stun gun.

A 34-year-old pastor told officers he was leading Bible study at the Shield Outreach Ministry building on East Main Street at 8 p.m. when another pastor entered and began a disturbance. The pastor leading the study asked Apostle Rodrequez Dover, 30, to leave and had two parishioners escort him out of the study area, according to a Rock Hill police report.

Dover, who is with the Shield Ministry, said the incident resulted from a long-running dispute his group has with a group that rents the space for their own meetings. The Shield is in the process of having the other group thrown out of the meeting space.

The other pastor had previously been told Tuesday would be his last meeting in the facility, Dover said, and that was why he got angry when Dover showed up looking for medicine he’d left at the building.

“He told one man to get me out before he knocked me out,” Dover said.

Dover called his church’s board members about the confrontation. Four arrived at the outreach center and one woman began arguing with the study group leader. According to the police report, she waved a stun gun around until the group began to leave.

After speaking with the pastor at the scene, police contacted the other individuals involved by phone.

The woman told officers she went to the scene to talk to the other pastor, whom she considers a friend, and he approached her “angry and loud” and had to be held back by two other men “to restrain him from assaulting her,” according to the report. She denied threatening anyone in the Bible study with a stun gun.

Later, Shield board members told officers a 2006 iMac computer was missing from the church building after the Bible study. The officer who was on the scene when the study leader left said the leader was not carrying anything at the time.

No one was arrested.
