Suspected drunken driver hits 3 cars before being thrown from truck during Rock Hill police chase

A suspected drunken driver led Rock Hill police on a car chase after a crash, then struck two other vehicles before being thrown from his truck.

Keith Dewayne Stanley, 45, of Rock Hill, faces charges of DUI, failure to stop for blue lights and leaving the scene of an accident, according to Rock Hill Police.

Officers were called to the 800 block of Heckle Boulevard at 2 p.m. Tuesday after Stanley’s red Ford truck was involved in an accident with a Dodge 2500. The officer on scene reported that Stanley appeared to be intoxicated. A short time later, Stanley pulled away from the scene, according to the report.

Police attempted to stop the truck, which was reportedly swerving across the median and striking the curb. Near the intersection of Heckle Boulevard and Ogden Road, the truck went off the roadway and struck a traffic sign, then hit a Toyota stopped at the light. The truck then went airborne and collided with a Hyundai before coming down on the other side of the intersection. Stanley was then ejected from the truck.

EMS was called to the scene, and Stanley was taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. A 55-year-old woman was also tended to by EMS, according to report.

S.C. Highway Patrol was also called out to investigate the collision.

Warrants were obtained for Stanley’s arrest, but had not been served Wednesday morning pending his release from the hospital.
