Man hides gun at Rock Hill Walmart, claims he was looking for salt

Rock Hill police are looking for a man who allegedly hid a revolver on a shelf at a Rock Hill Walmart.

In the incident around 2 a.m. Monday at the Dave Lyle Boulevard store, an employee saw the man looking through shelves and asked if the man needed help. The man claimed to be looking for rock salt and was told that rock salt was not found where he was looking. The man continued to search and then pulled the gun, telling the employee “I found it.”

The employee told the man to put the gun away and the man told the employee “this is just between us,” then fled the store.

Surveillance tape showed the man hiding the gun on the shelf minutes before.
