Four teens charged with fighting during Rock Hill’s Red, White and Boom

Anyone in Rock Hill who came downtown to see fireworks this weekend may have witnessed a different kind of fireworks erupt.

Four teenagers were arrested at Rock Hill’s Fourth of July celebration after a fight broke out.

Rock Holl police report that several juveniles got into a “large-scale fight” on Elk Avenue between Main Street and the Black Street parking lot.

The fight happened around 9:45 p.m. on Friday in the midst of the Red, White and Boom concert and fireworks show at the nearby Old Town Amphitheater. “There were still thousands of other civilians around” when the fight occurred, the report states.

A 19-year-old man was arrested after an officer spotted him “on top of another individual, assaulting him with his fists.” An 18-year-old man was also arrested, but officers noted several other individuals involved in the fight scattered when police showed up.

Two 15-year-olds were also arrested after they repeatedly returned to the scene of the fight and cursed at the officers, according to the arrest report.

All four were walked over to the Rock Hill Law Center down the street. The older two were booked for public disorderly conduct and the younger two were issued summonses and released to their mothers.
