Report: Rock Hill officer shot aggressive dog in leg
A Rock Hill police officer responding to a call about aggressive dogs shot one of the animals in the leg when it charged him, according to Rock Hill Police.
A woman told police at about 8:15 a.m. Tuesday that three Rottweilers had been acting aggressively toward her in her yard on Annafrel Street, according to a police report. One officer stayed with the caller while a second officer tried to find the owner.
The officer found the owner at home on Third Street and told him what was happening, police said. While the officer was near the corner of Annafrel and Third streets, two of the dogs charged and tried to bite him.
The officer drew his service weapon and shot one dog in the front right leg, police said. Both dogs fled, but the owner was able to secure all the dogs in their kennels. Nine dogs were living on the property, and York County Animal Control officers were called to inspect the dogs and their living quarters.
The owner, who was cited for having dogs at large, took the injured dog to a veterinarian for treatment.
