SC bicyclist killed in hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning

Authorities are looking for the driver of a car after a bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning in Lancaster County.

Coroner Karla Deese identified the cyclist as 59-year-old Lamont Stewart, of Lancaster, according to a release. He died at the scene.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said the incident happened about 4:30 a.m. Sunday on Springdale Road near Summit Avenue, about two miles south of Lancaster.

Stewart’s bike was allegedly struck by a car that’s a 1998 to 2005 model Chevy S-10 or GMC Sonoma, according to a release from the coroner. The vehicle is thought to be silver, the coroner’s office said.
