Rock Hill boy, 12 charged with assaulting mother
A 12-year-old boy was charged with assault after pushing his mother to the floor, causing minor injuries, according to Rock Hill Police.
The victim called police to her Riverview Road home about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday and told them her 12-year-old son assaulted her, according to a police report. She said there had been “ongoing issues” with her son that day, and that she had been looking for him in an apartment complex when he did not return home on time.
The victim said a friend of her son came to their home about 11:30 p.m. and was upset that the suspect’s mother and police came to his apartment looking for the suspect, police said.
Later, the boy “became disorderly” with his mother and pushed her to the floor against a child’s grocery cart, breaking the cart, police said. The mother had bruising on her arms that she said was from an earlier incident. She wanted to press charges against her son, who was taken to the Rock Hill Law Center and served with a family court summons for third-degree assault and battery.
The boy was released to his mother’s custody.
