The victim was identified as Rachael Pesce, 59, by York County Coroner Sabrina Gast. Rachael Pesce had been stabbed several times, Gast said.
The suspect is the brother of the victim, according to Faris of the sheriff’s office and a written statement from York County Sheriff Kevin Tolson.

Suspect held without bail
Adam Simeon Pesce is in the York County Detention Center where he is being held without bail, according to jail records.
Court records show the defense case has been assigned to a public defender. Sixteenth Circuit Chief Public Defender B.J. Barrowclough said Monday his office has not yet been sent documents in the case, but his office would conduct its own investigation into the allegations.
The crime scene is in the Beacon Knoll Villas neighborhood off Pleasant Road. The area is north of Gold Hill Road and south of the border with Charlotte, west of the town of Fort Mill.
The homicide is the first in the sheriff’s office jurisdiction in 2023, according to sheriff’s office records.
