Deputies: Rock Hill man stabbed, robbed after accepting ride from strangers

A 24-year-old Rock Hill man was robbed and stabbed Thursday night after accepting a ride from strangers on McConnells Highway, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.

No arrests have been made. The assault and robbery happened around 7:30 p.m., a sheriff’s office report states.

Deputies say they met with the victim at Piedmont Medical Center, where he was being treated for a stab wound to his leg. The man told deputies he had accepted a ride from three men while he was walking down the road Thursday night.

The sheriff’s office report states the three suspects began asking the victim for money for gas and searching his pockets. One of the suspects stabbed him with a folding knife, according to the report.

The man told deputies he then jumped out of the car while the vehicle was in motion, and walked to a store to call a friend. The friend told deputies she picked him up at the store and took the man to the hospital, according to the report.
