MCT file

Eleven cars were broken into within a block of each other near Manchester Meadows overnight Monday – the fourth rash of auto break-ins reported in York County in the past week.

Rock Hill police are investigating the break-ins after responding to a string of calls Tuesday morning, according to police reports. A firearm was taken from one of the vehicles.

A .45-caliber Springfield XD pistol was taken from a car on Burnage Way at the Manchester Apartments, the report states, with the thief leaving a holster behind. The victim’s wallet also was taken.

One other vehicle was broken into on Burnage Way, as were four each on the intersecting streets of Ladybarn Drive and Didsbury Drive. Among the items stolen were GPS units, cash, pills and a batch of cigars.

Some of the cars were unlocked, according to police reports.

The break-ins reported Tuesday morning follow several others reported to Rock Hill police on Monday and over the weekend. The York County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Thursday night rash of car break-ins on Covered Bridge Court near Rock Hill.
