York County sheriff’s deputies are trying to locate a registered sex offender who has dropped off the grid.

Detectives have obtained warrants for Bobby Gene White, 58, of Rock Hill, who has failed to register his address with the department as a sex offender as required by state law, the sheriff’s office said Wednesday.

White was convicted in 1990 of lewd act on a child under the age of 16, and has a conviction in New Mexico of attempting to commit sexual criminal penetration, according to the S.C. sex offender register.

White is believed to be homeless and somewhere in the Rock Hill area.

He is described as about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing 145 pounds. He has several distinctive tattoos, including the name “Jodi” tattooed on his neck, a skull and spider webs on his right arm, and an eagle and flag on his left arm, as well as a snake with a dagger.

If anyone knows where York County detectives can locate Bobby Gene White they are asked to call Crime Stoppers of York County at 1-877-409-4321 or the York County Sheriff’s Office at 803-628-3059.
