Lancaster man charged with murder in fatal shooting of second man, SC police say

A South Carolina man faces murder charges for a fatal shooting Wednesday afternoon in Lancaster, police said.

Gregory Scott Coleman, 52, is being held without bail at the Lancaster County jail, the Lancaster Police Department said in a news release. He’s accused of killing Troy Moore, a 42-year-old man from Lancaster.

Police responded to the shooting on Willow Lake Road after 4 p.m. Wednesday. No motive or other details about the case have been released.

Moore died at Medical University of South Carolina hospital in Lancaster after the shooting, according Karla Knight-Deese, Lancaster County coroner and police.

The area of the shooting is east of downtown Lancaster. The city of Lancaster has around 9,000 residents and is east of Rock Hill and south of Charlotte.
