No charges for man who shot, killed Rock Hill co-worker in traffic, police say

Rock Hill police say a man who killed his co-worker during post-work traffic won’t face criminal charges because he acted in self-defense.

A man who shot and killed his co-worker Wednesday will not be charged because the woman pulled a gun on him before he shot her in self-defense, Rock Hill police said.

The shooting happened after 3 p.m. at Riverwalk Parkway near Cel-River Road after an altercation between the two at work, according to police.

Neither the woman who died nor the man who fired the gun have been identified by the Rock Hill Police Department. Police declined to name the business where the two worked, or what the initial argument was about.

The police investigation showed the man was stopped in traffic after work when the woman got out of another car and pointed a gun at him, according to a news release and Rock Hill police Lt. Michael Chavis. The woman was a passenger in the second car that blocked the man in, police said.

The female driver of the car that blocked in the man then punched the man in the face, police said. The female driver who allegedly threw the punch has been charged with assault and battery, police said.

Two guns were recovered at the scene, police said.

The investigation remains ongoing.
