Police are searching for a robber who swiped a bank bag from a customer at a Clover bank.

The theft happened just after 9 a.m. Saturday at Clover Community Bank on North Main Street, according to a police report. The victim said he was about to enter the bank with a deposit bag when a man snatched the bag from his hands and ran toward Marion Street.

Witnesses said the robber ran around the side of Clover Evangelical Presbyterian Church and into the woods. A bank employee said he chased the suspect in the direction provided by the witnesses, the report states, but he was unable to find the man. The deposit bag contained an undisclosed amount of cash and checks.

Bank employees provided surveillance footage to police that showed the incident. A York County K-9 was called to the scene but was unable to locate the suspect.

The suspect is described as a black male about 6 feet tall and weighing 170 pounds. He has black hair in a short crew-cut style and was wearing a dark blue long-sleeve shirt and dark pants.
