Man surrenders after Charlotte teen’s body dumped along rural NC highway
Authorities identified a body dumped along a Lincoln County highway early Nov. 10 as 18-year-old Sydney Bisson of Charlotte, and a man wanted for questioning in connection with her death surrendered Saturday.
Bisson was found dead near N.C. 150 East in Boger City, just east of Lincolnton, Lincoln County sheriff’s investigators said late Friday.
Sheriff’s detectives obtained warrants charging 34-year-old Bessemer City resident Gregory Clifford Houser with felony concealing and failing to report a death.
Houser also has charges pending in Mecklenburg, Lincoln, Gaston and Catawba counties, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
A Gaston County judge recently ordered Houser to wear an electric ankle monitor as he awaited trial on charges that investigators didn’t disclose Friday. He was charged with misdemeanor interfering with an electronic monitoring device.
Investigators have not said who found Bisson or whether Bisson knew Houser.
Sheriff’s detectives contacted Houser by phone Saturday, and he agreed to turn himself in. Houser was taken into custody without incident at a relative’s home on Clemson Lane in Lincoln County around 3 p.m., investigators said
Houser was arrested on a charge of concealing and failing to report a death charge, but the sheriff’s office didn’t say in a news release Saturday night that the charge is related to the teen’s death.
“He also was wanted for questioning in the death of Sydney Bisson,” the news release said.
Houser was jailed without bond pending a first court appearance on a date that wasn’t released by the sheriff’s office on Saturday.
The sheriff’s office urged anyone with information about Bisson’s death to call the Lincoln County Communications Center at 704-735-8202, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 704-732-9050 or Lincolnton/Lincoln County Crime Stoppers at 704-736-8909.
