Police: Car break-in at Rock Hill Country Club led to credit card fraud
Detectives are investigating a case of possible credit card fraud after a car break-in at the Rock Hill Country Club on Thursday, police records show.
Rock Hill Police say an employee at the Country Club reported a stolen credit card after the company’s card was used at a local Walmart to purchase $523 worth of merchandise on Thursday late afternoon. Two other large purchases at the store that afternoon were declined, according to the police report.
Earlier that day, the woman reported that her car was broken into while she was playing golf at the Country Club, officers say. She told police the credit card was taken, along with a $300 purse, a personal credit card, $250 worth of gift cards, and $200 in cash.
Police believe the suspect or suspects broke the vehicle’s rear passenger side window to get inside the woman’s SUV. No arrests had been made by Friday morning.
