Two Crazy Horse employees hit by truck while chasing alleged tip jar thieves

Two people received minor injuries while chasing after two men who took cash from the tip jar inside Crazy Horse Showclub Saturday, according to Rock Hill Police.

Two employees, a man and a woman, said the suspects came to the Cherry Road club just before midnight Friday, where they “stayed around the jar and continued to mess with the tip jar,” according to a police report. The employees noticed the suspects leaving “quickly” about 2 a.m. and saw that money was missing from the jar.

The employees chased after the subjects into the parking lot, where the suspects entered a pickup and backed it up, striking the female employee in the arm and forcing the male employee to “jump back and grab the truck as it hit him,” police said. The employees had no visible injuries, but the female employee complained her arm was hurting.

The victims gave officers a phone number that one of the suspects left with one of the club’s employees. They located Robert Lee Croxton, 44, at his home on S.C. 324 in Rock Hill.

Croxton admitted to being at the club with Paul Nance, 25, but denied taking any money and said Nance was driving, police said. Nance initially denied being at the club, and officers told both men video from the club conflicted with their stories.

Nance later admitted to driving the truck that struck the two victims, and to taking the money, police said. He was charged with two counts of third-degree assault and battery and petty larceny. Croxton was charged with larceny.

Nance and Croxton were placed in the Rock Hill city jail, where they were later released after posting bonds of $4,100 and $2,000, respectively.
