Fugitive killer involved in 100 mph police chase now back in York County jail
A convicted killer who did not show up for court in May and was on the run for months until he was caught in North Carolina was brought back to the York County jail Wednesday and is set to be sent to prison Tuesday, prosecutors said.
Jerry Lee Dickey, 41, who spent years in prison for murder after he killed a pizza delivery driver, was convicted in his absence in May after fleeing from police at speeds over 100 MPH last year when he robbed a Clover discount store.
Police had been seeking Dickey since he failed to show up for court where Dickey was convicted anyway. He waived extradition Tuesday in Gaston County, N.C. court.
Dickey faces as much as 13 years in prison when his sentence is unsealed Tuesday, said Matthew Hogge, the 16th Circuit assistant solicitor who prosecuted Dickey.
