A York County woman who stole more than $4,000 from a Chester assisted living resident while working at the care center has been sentenced to three years in prison, according to prosecutors and court records.

Judge Grace Knie sentenced Rebecca Jean Workman, 48, of Hickory Grove on Monday, S.C. Attorney General Alan Wilson said in a news release.

Workman pleaded guilty to exploitation of a vulnerable adult, breach of trust with fraudulent intent between $2,000 and $5,000, and financial transaction card fraud over $500, Wilson said.

Workman was working at Palmetto Village in Chester in 2023 when she took the money from a resident’s accounts using ATM and debit cards, according to prosecutors and arrest warrants in the case. She was arrested in January 2024.

She has to serve five years probation after her prison term, prosecutors said.
