Man robbed at gunpoint outside Fort Mill grocery store

The York County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the armed robbery of a man outside a Fort Mill store Monday afternoon, after which a woman apparently took the victim’s cellphone to a store to override the password on the stolen phone.

The robbery happened just after 5 p.m. Monday at the Food Lion on Regent Parkway, according to a sheriff’s report. The victim said he had just gotten out of his car in the parking lot and was walking toward the store when one of the two men who had been sitting in the car parked next to his told the victim he had dropped something.

The victim walked back between the two vehicles and bent down to pick up a receipt and some loose paper, at which point the suspect grabbed his wrist and showed him a black 9 mm handgun, deputies said. The suspect then said, “You know what I want,” and began searching the victim’s pockets.

The suspects took the victim’s wallet, cash and his iPhone and fled in a white four-door Honda Accord. No injuries were reported.

Deputies later learned that an unknown woman entered a wireless store in Charlotte and asked how to override the password on the stolen cellphone, the report states. No arrests have been made.
