Shots were fired at a South Carolina park Wednesday evening while young children were playing baseball nearby, police said.

No one was hurt after at least three shots were fired around 7:30 p.m. in a parking area at Roosevelt Park inside the Clover town limits, said Sgt. Tracy Reid of the Clover Police Department.

Children as young as ages 6 through 8 were playing in a youth baseball game at the park at the time, Reid told the The Herald Thursday morning. Clover officers and York County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded.

No arrests have been made, Reid said. Witnesses told police three males fled the scene in a black vehicle after the shots were fired, according to a statement from the police department. Officers found shell casings.

No other information about the incident was available Thursday.

Clover, with a population of around 7,500 people, is located west of Lake Wylie, south of the North Carolina state line.
