Two men were arrested after a fight at a Rock Hill bar during which one suspect pointed a gun at the second suspect and his mother, according to Rock Hill Police.

Officers responded to a fight at Celebrations on Cherry Road just before 11 p.m. Friday, according to a police report. They first spoke with Michael Cook, 42, who had bruising on his mouth and shoulder.

Cook told police he came outside after getting a drink at the bar and saw 24-year-old Mark Dorko, of Mokena, Ill., hit Cook’s fiancee. Cook said Dorko then began hitting him, so he went and got his unloaded gun from his truck. He reportedly pointed the gun into the air to make Dorko stop.

Dorko told officers he saw Cook’s fiancee “getting grabby with a female who did not want it” and intervened. Dorko admitted that he started the fight by striking Cook’s fiancee, and that Cook was hit when he tried to break up the fight, police said.

Cook got the gun from his truck and pointed it at Dorko and Dorko’s mother, police said. Dorko’s mother was at the bar to pick up her son because she didn’t want him driving home impaired. She told police she got in front of her son after Cook pointed the gun at him, and that he then pointed the gun at her.

A witness told police Dorko was “having a beef” with Cook’s fiancee, and that Cook got involved in the fight, the report states. The witness said the two were losing the fight to Dorko, so Cook got the gun from his truck and pointed it at Dorko, then at Dorko’s mother after she got in front of him.

Dorko was charged with disorderly conduct and remained in jail Monday under $476 bond. Cook was charged with two counts of pointing and presenting a firearm, and released under $10,000 bond.
