A man who allegedly struck his brother with a child’s toy was able to run from police for a short time after striking an officer in the head when police tried to handcuff him, according to Rock Hill Police.

Officers responded to a fight at a home on Porter Road about 12:45 p.m. and spoke with a man who said he and his brother D’Aaron were fighting because D’Aaron came into his room and hit him with a child’s toy, according to a police report. Neither of the two brothers wanted to press charges for the fight.

When an officer told the brothers that one of them should leave the home for a few hours to “cool down,” D’Aaron “became increasingly agitated and began yelling at his brother and mother,” police said. After D’Aaron Colston threatened violence against his mother and brother, officers told him he was under arrest.

An officer tried grabbing D’Aaron Colston’s arm to handcuff him, but Colston swung his left arm around and hit the officer in the head, the report states. He was able to jerk away from the officer and run. The officer tripped over a culvert and suffered minor injuries while chasing Colson.

A perimeter was set up and Colston was arrested a few minutes later. He was charged with resisting arrest and placed in the Rock Hill city jail, where he remained Tuesday under $60,000 bond.
