Police: Convicted felon arrested in Rock Hill for firing gun
A Rock Hill woman who police say is barred from having a gun because of a previous criminal conviction was arrested Wednesday for allegedly firing a gun on Riverview Road, according to law enforcement records.
Officers charged Tanishka Rene Lomick, age 26, with carrying a pistol unlawfully and discharging a firearm inside city limits, Rock Hill Police Department records show. Lomick was arrested just before 1 a.m., according to a police incident report.
Authorities say witnesses reported hearing a gunshot on Riverview Road close to the Bestway Inn. When officers arrived, they found Lomick walking down the street but she did not have a gun, the report states.
Officers say Lomick denied having a gun and told them she is a convicted felon not allowed to own a gun. A search along the roadway led officers to find a handgun close to where Lomick was walking, according to the report.
Witnesses told police Lomick had previously been in an argument with someone at the Bestway Inn when she raised the gun above her head and fired one shot. Those witnesses then called police, saying Lomick ran behind a nearby building, the report states.
