Clover woman charged in DUI death released on $20K bond
A Clover woman who had been in jail since April on felony DUI resulting in death charges after a crash left her passenger dead was released Wednesday on bond, prosecutors said.
Laura Beth Sanders was given a $20,000 personal recognizance bond but cannot drive or use alcohol before her pending trial.
Sanders allegedly was on S.C. 5 near York March 25 when the minivan she was driving went off the right side of the road and overturned, troopers said when she was arrested in April. The van hit an embankment.
Alexander Bissett McConnell, of Clover, died in the crash.
Sanders was airlifted after the crash but later was taken to the York County jail.
A felony DUI resulting in death conviction can carry a sentence up to 25 years in prison. No trial date has been set.
