Rock Hill, South Carolina police said a 41-year-old man faces murder, death in utero and weapon charges after a 37-year-old pregnant woman was stabbed to death May 16, 2025.

A 17-year-old boy has died after being shot while driving on a Rock Hill street, police said.

ZyDerec Massey died at Piedmont Medical Center, said Sabrina Gast, York County Coroner.

Massey was driving on Finley Road around 10 p.m. Friday when he was shot, Rock Hill Police Department Lt. Michael Chavis told The Herald.

Patrol officers responding to a shots fired call found he had been shot one time. It is not believed the shots came from another car, Chavis said.

Detectives continued to work the case through the weekend but as of Monday no arrests had been made.

A motive for the shooting remains unclear and police did not say whether the victim was the intended target.

“It appears the victim was just driving on the roadway when this happened,” Chavis said Monday.

There were no other victims, Chavis said.

The area of the shooting is west of downtown Rock Hill in a residential neighborhood. Finley Road runs south from Black Street to Cherry Road.
