Rock Hill police say no intruder found after report at Catholic school

Rock Hill police responded to St. Anne Catholic School Thursday morning after receiving a report of a possible intruder on campus, officials said.

Officers found no intruder after a room-by-room search of the school, which is on Bird Street, Rock Hill Police Department Lt. Michael Chavis said.

The school acted appropriately to ensure safety of all on campus, Chavis said.

“All the people at the school are safe,” Chavis said.

The call from an adult came in around 8:05 a.m., Chavis said.

The department did what they call a “mass response,” sending available officers to the campus, according to Chavis.

The school is located next to St. Anne Catholic Church, which was holding morning services at the same time.

Police are continuing to investigate.

The Herald called the school for comment Thursday morning but as of 9 a.m. had not received a return call from administrators.
