2 arrested on alcohol charges after waving BB gun at Rock Hill store
Two men were arrested on charges of open container and giving alcohol to minors after one of them was seen waving a gun at a Rock Hill drug store, according to Rock Hill Police.
A woman told police she and her husband were at the CVS on the 600 block of Cherry Road about 10 p.m. Tuesday when they saw the driver of the car next to them pull out a handgun and begin waving it around, according to a police report. The witnesses said the handgun appeared to be real, and the suspect wasn’t pointing it at anyone in particular.
The woman and her husband followed the car as it left and traveled south on Charlotte Avenue, but lost sight of it as it passed McDow Drive, police said. Officers pulled the car over on McDow Drive and asked the 19-year-old driver for permission to search it.
Inside the car, police found a Beretta-style BB gun and two open cans of Four Loko, the report states. The BB gun appeared to be a real firearm and had no markings, including an orange tip, to indicate it was a BB gun.
Passenger Quintin Wherry, 21, was the only person in the car who was 21 or older, police said. He admitted to providing alcohol to the passengers in the car. Two other passengers were released at the scene.
The driver was charged with open container of beer and released after posting $260 bond. Wherry was charged with transfer of beer to someone under 21 and released on a personal recognizance bond.
