A South Carolina man arrested with drugs and guns in 2024 in Lancaster County has been sentenced to 17 years in federal prison after pleading guilty.

U.S. District Court Judge Sherri Lydon sentenced Travis Rashad Laney, 38, this week after he pleaded guilty in July to possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, federal court records show.

Laney sold more than 700 grams of meth three times to police In April and May 2024 during an investigation before his arrest at a home on Windy Hill Lane, records show. When the DEA, SLED, and local police searched the house in May 2024, officers found about a kilogram of meth, along with fentanyl, cocaine, and other drugs, according to federal court documents and a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Police also seized 11 guns in what Lancaster County Sheriff Barry Faile said at the time was “an arsenal” of weapons.

Laney was originally charged in state court before federal prosecutors took over the case and Laney pleaded guilty, court documents show.
