Rock Hill convenience store clerk robbed at gunpoint

Rock Hill police are investigating after a convenience store clerk was robbed at gunpoint early Wednesday morning.

Police were called at 12:08 a.m. to the Sam’s Mart on Saluda Road. The cashier told police a man entered the store and pointed a silver handgun at her, demanding cash. The gunman then fled the store with an undisclosed amount of money, heading toward the Country Club Arms Apartments, according to a Rock Hill police incident report.

A K9 unit responded to the scene to track the suspect. The dogs led investigators to a black backpack and a green, long-sleeved shirt, which were taken into evidence.

Police continue to search for the suspect.
