Bond modified for Chester Co. teen accused of sex with 12-year-old girl
Bond was modified Thursday for an 18-year-old Chester County man accused of having sex with a 12-year-old girl whose family had taken him in after he was homeless.
Michael Thomas, 18, is accused of criminal sexual conduct with a minor earlier this month after a family member of the girl found the two together. Prosecutors said Thursday that Thomas had been homeless and the family of the victim had allowed him to stay with them before the incident.
Thomas’ lawyer said in court that “whatever occurred, if it occurred, was consensual” but acknowledged that any such act is still against state law.
Bond was reduced to $25,000. Late Thursday Thomas was still jailed.
If Thomas is released he was ordered to have no contact with the victim or her family.
