Rock Hill man arrested after prank call about bomb at Chinese restaurant

A regular customer at a Chinese restaurant in Rock Hill was arrested this week after making a prank phone call to report a bomb threat.

The man called The China Garden on York Highway and threatened to put a bomb in the garbage can if his “pork chops aren’t done soon,” according to a York County Sheriff’s Office report.

The worker who answered the phone immediately hung up and called police. She was “very shaken,” the report states.

Officers, fire department and store personnel checked around for precaution.

The caller, later identified as Steven Knight, 54, of Rock Hill, said he was “just joking” about the bomb. He said the woman hung up before he was able to explain.

Knight was arrested and charged with conveying false information about a bomb threat, the report states.
