2 teenage girls charged after fight breaks out on York school bus
A York District 1 school bus was taking a busload of children home from school last week when it had to stop bcause a fistfight broke out between two teenage girls.
York police were notified that the two girls – apparently romantic rivals – began throwing punches and pulling hair in the aisle of a bus on Cedar Grove Road on Monday afternoon, according to an incident report.
Both girls, ages 14 and 13, were petitioned to juvenile court for assault and interference with the operations of a school bus. They also were suspended from riding the bus for the remainder of the school year.
According to police, the two girls told officers they got into an argument over the weekend “about a boyfriend causing issues between the two,” the report states.
The fight was also caught on the bus’s security cameras, and seated nearby, both girls motioned toward the cameras prior to the fight breaking out. Nevertheless, the younger girl reportedly told the older one to “please touch her, hit her, tap her, something.” Moments later, the 13-year-old reportedly approached the older girl and laid her index finger on the girl’s shoulder.
At that, the older girl stood up and began removing items from her pockets and took off her belt, handing them to a friend. Both girls also took off their shoes.
The younger girl then pushed the older one down and started punching her in the face. Both girls also reportedly pulled each other’s hair during the fight.
The fight was eventually broken up by another student on the bus.
