Police: Worker assaulted, cash bag stolen at Rock Hill movie theater

An unknown man on Sunday assaulted a movie theater employee and took a bag containing more than $1,000, according to Rock Hill Police.

The incident happened about 10:20 p.m. at the Cinema 7 on North Cherry Road.

The victim, a movie theater employee, had just finished counting the night deposit and laid it on the desk, according to a police report. She looked up and saw a man wearing a dark hoodie walk into the office, punch her in the right ear and grab the bag. He then ran from the office.

The victim could not tell if the suspect left the building, which still had patrons in it, police said. Officers noticed her right ear was red.

Police cleared the theater, and a K-9 team responded but could not locate the suspect.
