A York man who was set to be released from jail Friday morning was taken back into custody after threatening the life of one of the officers, according to police.

William Harold Mason Vinson, 48, of York began cursing and claiming that he “had bought a new gun” and had something for another officer, according to a York Police Department report.

Vinson allegedly stated to an officer in an altercation caught on videotape: “I bought me something and when I am ready I’m going to walk in them doors, I hope you are off duty, that ain’t no threat it’s a promise, when I’m ready I’m coming up here and coming to get him...”

Vinson allegedly kicked out the window of the patrol car.

Vinson was charged with threatening the life of a public official and damage to property and as of Saturday remained in the York County detention center under a $5,000 bond.

Arrest records show Vinson was charged Aug. 11 with public disorderly conduct. Online court records show Vinson has criminal court convictions for assault and battery and a 2009 conviction for threatening the life of a public official.
