Police: Thief steals over $400 from Rock Hill Sonic drive-in

York County deputies are investigating a burglary at the Sonic drive-in restaurant where the thief who took $409 used a key to unlock the front door and the cash box, according to a sheriff’s office report.

In the incident reported Wednesday, Sonic management at the Celanese Road store in Rock Hill showed deputies a video recording of two men approaching the front door after the restaurant closed Tuesday night. One man, using a key, entered the building and used a key to open the cash box, the report states.

Both men were wearing hooded jackets covering their heads, the report states.

The thief who went inside appeared to know where security cameras were and attempted to unplug the recording device.
