Report: Man pointed gun, made threats at Riverwalk
Police say a fight broke out among a group of men drinking Thursday night on the banks of the Catawba River at Riverwalk in Rock Hill, leading one man to threaten another with a gun.
Authorities say the incident started when a group of people drinking began arguing and punching each other. When police arrived around 9:45 p.m., the man accused of having a 9 mm gun was gone, the report states.
His friend – who was charged with public disorderly – tried to flee the scene, too, but was chased down and held to the ground in a nearby parking lot, police say. That man told Rock Hill officers the man with a gun lives in Charlotte and he works on the construction site of a new restaurant at Riverwalk.
Officers say the case is active, pending identification of the man.
Riverwalk is a residential, recreational and commercial community located along the Catawba River, near Interstate 77 off Cherry Road.
