Police: Man beaten, knocked unconscious outside York apartment
Authorities say a 35-year-old man was assaulted and knocked unconscious outside an apartment building last week in York.
York officers believe four men – who have not yet been arrested – “jumped” the man from behind around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday, according to a police incident report. Officers went to the apartments on Galilean Road after a woman called 911 to report a fight.
Witnesses told police they first saw the man unconscious on the ground outside the building but he later walked inside. Officers say they knocked on the man’s apartment door but he did not answer.
Concerned the man was severely injured, police officers and fire department personnel pried open the apartment door and found the man inside, looking at himself in a mirror, according to the police report. The man had multiple cuts and knots on his head and his face, and was bleeding, the report states.
Police called EMS to evaluate the man’s injuries. First, police say, he provided false names to EMS workers but he later cooperated. The man reluctantly agreed to go to the hospital for treatment, according to the report.
He told officers he does not know who assaulted him and could not provide a physical description of the men involved.
