York County Sheriff’s Office captain to lead 911 center
After 30 years with the York County Sheriff’s Office, a top deputy will continue his service overseeing the York County Department of Public Safety communications division.
Capt. Allen Brandon currently oversees the sheriff’s office uniform and field services division, and has been with the agency since 1985. He will take the reins in Public Safety communications on Oct. 10, according to Assistant County Manager David Larson.
“As the director of Public Safety communications, Allen will oversee our 911 system,” Larson said. “That’s obviously a very significant area for our communications and the public.”
The communications division is comprised of more than 30 employees who dispatch calls for the sheriff’s office, EMS and all fire departments. They also receive calls for law enforcement from the cities of York and Rock Hill and transfer those calls.
The director position has been empty since former director Gary Loflin retired in May.
“Capt. Brandon has an extended and very noteworthy record in public service,” Larson said. “He has held very important critical positions as a staff member in the sheriff’s office. He has also been heavily involved in our radio communications system.”
