Hundreds of cases of beer seized after raid at Rock Hill store
Agents on Wednesday seized “several hundred” cases of beer from a Rock Hill store that allegedly sold the alcoholic beverage without a permit, according to the State Law Enforcement Division.
The raid happened Wednesday afternoon at the Pride Mart on the 1000 block of South Anderson Road, according to SLED spokesman Thom Berry.
“This was based upon an undercover purchase of beer by an undercover agent,” Berry said. “Agents confiscated what has been described as several hundred cases of beer.”
One person was issued a courtesy summons to appear in magistrate court for sale of beer without a permit, Berry said. The store can remain open but cannot sell beer.
Permits are issued to businesses by the S.C. Department of Revenue. Berry said SLED normally conducts inspections and undercover purchases at facilities that sell alcohol.
