2 arrested in Lancaster road rage shooting
Two Lancaster men have been arrested in a road rage case where shots were fired into another car.
At about 4:30 a.m. Friday, a 26 year-old man called authorities to report someone shot into his vehicle, according to a media release from the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver said he was traveling west on Hwy. 9 when a silver pickup with several men inside pulled onto the highway, almost striking his vehicle. The men in the truck yelled at the victim and blew the horn.
After an “exchange of words,” one of the truck’s passengers, later identified as Joshua Aaron Horne, fired a rifle into the trunk of other vehicle, the release states.
No one was injured.
Deputies located the pickup on Bethel Boat Landing Road. Five men were in the truck and deputies found two rifles. They also saw a freshly-killed deer carcass in the bed of the truck.
Authorities believe the group also damaged road signs in the Edgewater subdivision off of Bethel Boat Landing Road.
Horne, 20, is charged with malicious damage to property less than $2,000 and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, the release states.
Additionally, Joseph Lee Sistare, 18, was charged with malicious damage to property less than $2,000, according to the release.
Deputies also contacted the Department of Natural Resources to investigate the unlawful killing of the deer. Charges are pending with DNR officers.
“This entire incident is just senseless,” Sheriff Barry Faile said in a prepared statement. “We are thankful that we were able to locate and stop these suspects before someone was injured.”
