Two arrested after purse snatching in Rock Hill Walmart market parking lot
Two people were charged after a woman was robbed of her purse outside the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Cherry Road Friday.
A woman was loading groceries into her car in the store’s parking lot about 9:30 a.m. when a man pushed her from behind and took her purse, Capt. Mark Bollinger said. The suspect then ran to a dark colored vehicle driven by a woman, and they fled into a neighborhood directly behind the store.
Officers found the car abandoned on Bose Avenue, Bollinger said.
Laura Littlefield of Rock Hill was found a short time later and was uncooperative with officers. She was charged with hindering police.
Littlefield was initially identified by police as the driver, but authorities later said she was not the driver.
The male suspect, 38-year-old Quincy Duwall Byrd, also of Rock Hill, was found walking on Cherry Road at Deas Street, Bollinger said. He was charged with strong arm robbery.
Littlefield and Byrd were placed in the Rock Hill city jail, and the incident remains under investigation.
